Die Initiative "Maltatal-Alpin":
General Information:
The valley Maltatal and its surroundings offer innumerable possibilities for enthusiasts of all mountain sports. The wide range includes beautiful walks and hikes as well as extraordinary climbs, ski mountaineering and alpine tours. Especially insiders appreciate our valley as one of the best ice climbing areas! In addition, you can enjoy all these activities in the breathtaking scenery of Hohe Tauern National Park.

So far, there has hardly been any tourist use of this potential. Therefore, it is the aim of the initiators of the project to advance and above all to market the existing infrastructure. In this connection, practical experience that was gained during numerous trainings (climbing, ice climbing, alpine tours,...) but also results of various projects and plans are to be used.

Local businesses and promoters of the project are responsible for carrying out the measures. Here, we strive for co-operation with communities, authorities, the tourism association Lieser-Maltatal but also with private institutions.

Aims of the Project:
  • utilisation of the existing infrastructure
  • creation of new infrastructure as a basis for more tourist activity
  • specific advertising of outdoor possibilities via website, brochures, press, events, ...
