Alpine Rock Climbing:
Reisseckgruppe/Hohe Tauern - 4 days
This course is aimed at all rock climbers who want to start climbing in alpine terrain. Techniques already known from bolted climbing areas like climbing and belay techniques as well as rope handling are transferred onto alpine rock routes. Furthermore, we will learn how to efficiently use mobile protection (cams and nuts) as well as basic rescue techniques. But the most important point is climbing itself! And maybe the gneiss of Hohe Tauern Range is just the start for famous granite routes in the Western Alps.

Climbing Area:
The hut Reisseckhütte is located on the southern border of Ankogel and Hochalmspitze Range. It is the ideal base for our training and climbing programme, close to a bolted climbing area and high alpine routes. Mountains to climb are Reisseck (2965 m), Hohe Leier (2774 m), Kleine Leier (2662 m), and Hugo-Rausch-Turm (2600 m).

Programme:
to revise rope handling and belay techniques; how to use mobile protection; basic rescue techniques like locking belay devices, pully system, prusik, a.s.o.; planning and preparation of alpine rock tours; grade III. to V. ridge and climbing tours, either lead or accompanied by a mountain guide, depending on the participants.
